50 for 50: Middle River Clean-up in Verona, Virginia

VERONA, Va. (October 16, 2019) –  As part of our 50 For 50 campaign, in which 50 good deeds are performed for each year Balzer & Associates has been in business, our Balzer Staunton team took to the water!

In coordination with Friends of the Middle River, a local non-profit dedicated to the health and preservation of the Middle River, the Balzer team patrolled roughly 1.5 miles of riverway, removing debris and clearing access sites.  After two clean-up sessions, the Balzer team removed several canoes worth of plastic and paper products, scrap metal, and vehicle tires fit for cars, trucks, and even tractors.

This is the second year Balzer and Associates has participated in the Middle River clean-up.  Since the group’s formation in 2010, Friends of the Middle of River and its volunteers have removed a substantial amount of debris from the river including air conditioners, televisions, car batteries, wooden pallets, playground items, fence posts, and several hundred vehicle tires.
