New Associates Named

Michael Fitzgerald, Kevin Jones, and Kent O’Donohue have been named as Associates at Balzer and Associates, Inc. in recognition of being a key member of our team. They have each showed a true commitment to the growth and future development of the firm, have achieved a certain professional status, and exhibited specific leadership skills. Becoming an Associate of our Firm is an important recognition and is the first step to potentially becoming an Officer, Stockholder, or Board Member.

Michael Fitzgerald, PE, is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He is the head of our Structural Engineering Department in the Roanoke office. Fitzgerald became a certified welding inspector in 2009 and licensed as a professional engineer in 2013. His experience covers both the design of new structures, as well as the rehabilitation and renovation of existing historic structures. Fitzgerald has been an employee at Balzer and Associates, Inc. for six years.

Kevin Jones, LS, has an Associates in Applied Science, Drafting and Design and became a licensed land surveyor in 2015. He is the head of our Surveying Department in our New River Valley office. Jones has a wide range of experience from completing mortgage surveys to performing due diligence and boundary mapping on a 9,000-acre tract of land. He has been with Balzer and Associates, Inc. for over 13 years and focuses on building positive relationships with our clients and the community.

Kent O’Donohue, LA, has a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Virginia Tech. He became licensed landscape architect in 2013. O’Donohue is currently the project manager in our Site / Civil Engineering department in our Staunton office. He provides enthusiasm and design experience with projects to balance aesthetic, environmental, and functional design. O’Donohue’s design experience, coupled with his project management skills, have enabled him to develop a strong ability to serve our clients and provide high quality results for both clients and the company. He has been an employee at Balzer and Associates, Inc. for seven years.
