New Associates Announced

NEW RIVER VALLEY, RICHMOND, STAUNTON, VA. (February 12, 2020) – We are proud to announce that Ryan Watson, Katie Goodman, and Paykon Sarmadi have been named as Associates in recognition of being key members of our team. They have shown a true commitment to the growth and future development of the firm, have achieved a certain professional status, and have exhibited specific leadership skills. Becoming an Associate of our Firm is an important recognition and is the first step to potentially becoming a Stockholder or Board Member.

Ryan Watson, Architect, graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech and is the Architecture Department Head in our New River Valley office.  Ryan became a licensed architect in 2016 and is currently a member of the Radford City Planning Commission.  His project experience includes single and multifamily housing, retail, restaurant, industrial, and office/light commercial design.  Ryan has been an employee at Balzer and Associates for fifteen years.

Katie Goodman, PE, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech and is a Structural Engineering Project Manager and manages Special Inspections in our Richmond office. Katie became licensed as a professional engineer in 2015 and is a Board Member for the Structural Engineers Association of Virginia. Her experience covers both the design of new structures, as well as the rehabilitation and renovation of existing historic structures. Katie has been an employee at Balzer and Associates for five years.

Paykon Sarmadi, Architect, graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech and is the Architecture Department Head in our Staunton office.  Paykon became a licensed architect in 2018 and is an active member in the Associated General Contractors of Virginia and the Augusta Home Builders Association.  His experience working for general contractors has brought a unique perspective and continues to build on his practical, team-oriented mindset.  He has been an employee at Balzer and Associates for five years.
